What We Know
Netflix has ordered a series adaptation of Liz Moore's Goodreads Choice Award-winning thriller, and in a move that will reassure fans of the book, Moore herself is co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer — partnering with Liz Hannah, known for The Girl From Plainville. Maya Hawke stars as Judy Luptack, the first female investigator in a male-dominated Bureau of Criminal Investigation tasked with finding Barbara Van Laar — a 13-year-old girl who vanishes from her family's Adirondack summer camp in 1975, 14 years after her older brother disappeared from the same place. Kerry Condon, fresh off her Oscar-nominated turn in The Banshees of Inisherin, plays Alice Van Laar, the missing girl's mother. The series is produced by Sony Pictures TV and Original Film. No release date has been announced yet — but with this cast and Moore at the helm, it's one to watch.
